definition of conformity.  Conformity is when a person adapts their behaviors or their
thoughts to fit those of their group.  Social loafing can cause conformity since it
encourages the individual to match the group's behavior.

In
social loafing, individuals do less work than they would on their own.  In other words,
they stop acting in the way that they are inclined to act and instead start to act in
the way that they believe the group would act.  They all start to act in the same ways
as the other group members.

Social loafing causes
individuals to do less work than they are inclined to do and, instead, to do the same
amount of work as others in the group.  In this way, social loafing leads to
conformity.
