Does petrol or diesel, evaporate more readily at room temperature?

Diesel, as kerosene, is easy to store since it does not
evaporate as quickly as gasoline. If the gasoline must be stored for a longer period of
time, then it has to be chemically treated with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and
moisture has to be avoided.

Therefore, diesel will
evaporate much slowly than petrol, at normal (or room) temperatures, since diesel oil is
much more heavier, containing approximately 10 atoms of carbon per molecule, while
petrol is lighter and it contains 8 atoms of carbon per
molecule.

The engine that uses diesel oil does not work in
the same way as the one that uses petrol as fuel. Since the petrol evaporates so quicly,
the petrol engine uses sparks to ignite the fuel, while diesel engine uses high
temperature created by the strong compressive action.
