Is Ali a flat or round character in The Kite Runner?

Ali is a decidedly flat, or
static, character created by Khaled Hosseini in his novel,
The Kite Runner. By definition, static characters are usually minor
figures who change little during the course of the story. Ali is unchanging throughout
the novel (with the possible exception of when he decides to leave Baba's household
following Hassan's accusation of theft). He is a servant and companion for Baba during
his childhood, and as an adult he retains the same position. Unlike Hassan, who
undergoes an operation to eliminate his hairlip, the crippled Ali remains so throughout
his life. A humble Hazara to the end, Ali and Hassan even move to back to Hazajarat, the
mountainous region of Afghanistan from which his people come, after leaving Baba's
home,.
