What role does communication play in management?

The whole point of management is getting people to do what
the manager needs them to do.  Communication is key to this
process.

In order for managers to be effective, they need
to communicate their goals and needs to those who work for them.  They need to do so in
a way that is both clear and as motivational as possible.  This is where communication
skills come in.  Managers need to know how to get information across, but they also need
to know how to do so in a way that makes their workers want to do what the manager says
as well as possible.

When we look at management in this
way, we can see why communication is so important.  Managers need to make their needs
perfectly clear to their subordinates.  At the same time, they need to communicate in
ways that make the subordinates feel important and motivated.
