What is the best way to write a compare and contrast easy on art and cooking? I started it but just want to make sure I am on the right track.

It depends on what your purpose is for writing the compare
and contrast. If you are trying to show how the underlying concepts are similar, even
though the form and function of each medium are different than you can follow basic
guidelines of a compare and contrast essay. You need to make sure you have an overall
theory that ties the two things together and express it as the thesis of your
paper.

A thesis statement tells your reader what the big
idea of your paper is and what it is you are going to prove. For a compare and contrast
paper, you want to tell your reader how you are relating the two topics and what the
main differences are. A thesis statement is usually at the end of your first
paragraph. You may need to adjust your thesis statement as your write your
essay.

You then need to prove your thesis using specific
evidence in your paper. It could be references to outside sources or a thorough
explanation of your ideas using your expertise and
knowledge.

You can either present all of your information
about one topic (art) and then your second topic (cooking) or you can alternate
paragraphs between the two topics.

Make sure you are using
clear transitions between paragraphs so your reader understands your argument and know
which topic you are discussing.
