What are some examples of discrimination in the book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry?

Many examples of racial discrimination can be found in the
novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. First, there are the separate
schools for whites and blacks. The Jefferson Davis County School is named after the
former Confederate president and is attended by whites only; the Great Faith School, the
Negro school, receives the hand-me-downs and discarded material from the white school.
Another example comes in the murder and burning by white night riders of John
Henry Berry, a black man accused of flirting with a white woman. Still another comes
when the white bus driver deliberately runs the Logan children into the muddy ditch,
while white students gleefully yell "Nigger! Nigger! Mud eater!" from the bus
windows.

Cassie's first visit to Strawberry is not a happy
one. She is angry that the black people are forced to use the worst spots at the
farmer's market, and when she goes into the Barnett Mercantile Store, the owner calls
her a "nigger." Outside the store, a white man, Mr. Simms, pushes Cassie into the dusty
road.
