Explain how alcohol is abused?

There are many ways in which alcohol, specifically
alcoholic beverages, may be abused. Alcohol impacts the function of the central nervous
system, with larger amounts of alcohol causing more significant impairment. The
concentration of the alcohol in the bloodstream, or the blood alcohol content (BAC,
measured in milligrams alcohol/liter of blood) is the critical measurement in measuring
the significance of abuse. Alcohol is abused when an individual consumes it in a greater
quantity and/or a shorter time period than his/her body is able to
metabolize.

With a BAC of 0.1%, users may exhibit signs of
intoxication such as balance impairment, facial flushing, loss of some coordination,
reddened eyes and slurred speech. A BAC of 0.2% usually results in significant loss of
coordination, impaired judgement, nausea and vomiting and very slurred speech. BAC of
0.4% can lead to a coma and death.
